I bought the same style in champagne from a dept store so when I saw it on Bare Necessities I did not hesitate to order it in black. I like it but the garment I received has hooks instead of snaps (hooks like on a bra). So I have to pull the shape wear all the way down instead of being able to open it from the bottom because it's awkward to use the hooks to close the garment while wearing the shape wear. The garment is much more functional with snaps instead of hooks.
Yes, I recommend this product.

how many inches above waist level

How many inches above the natural waist line does the garment go?
I ordered a 1x and it comes up under my breast. It sits right under my underwire. You can not see the seem at all under my clothes.
